This Triumph Trumpet was the first in the collection. Serial number is 13xxx.
It features two tuning slides, one in the usual bow style, and another in the style of a flugelhorn, in the leadpipe near the mouthpiece.
This trumpet came into our family in the 1950's, as a broken down wreck. It wasn't until the early 2000's that it was completely and professionally restored.
Records indicate this instrument was manufactured before 16 September 1925, estimated before 31 December 1914.
Take note of the extensive engraving on the bell.
The biggest question we have about this instrument is why it was made. Cornets were typically used in brass bands, and trumpets never featured. It has been suggested that it may have been built as a ceremonial instrument.
